What Is a Treble Bet?
A treble is one bet on three selections in which all three must win. The odds multiply together, and one losing leg loses the lot. It is the three-leg member of the accumulator family: bigger than a double, smaller than the four-folds and five-folds where variance starts to snowball.
How it settles
Your stake rides the first leg; the full return rolls onto the second, then the third. A void leg (postponed match, non-runner) does not sink the bet at most operators — it settles at 1.00 and the treble becomes a double. Each leg follows its own market's rules: ninety minutes for match results, the usual lines for goals.
The maths
Multiply the decimal odds: legs of 1.60, 1.80 and 2.00 build a treble at 5.76. Multiply the probabilities too, because that is the honest half of the arithmetic: if those legs are true 60, 55 and 48 percent chances, the treble lands 15.8 percent of the time — fair odds 6.31, so this particular slip is priced against you even though every leg looked reasonable. Margins compound as legs multiply: three legs carrying 5 percent each hand the bookmaker roughly 14 percent on the treble. The counterweight is that genuine value legs compound the other way, which is the entire craft: three modest edges multiplied become one meaningful edge, and three modest overpayments become one large one.
A worked example
Saturday treble from the model's coupon: a home win at 1.70 (model 63 percent), over 1.5 goals at 1.30 (model 82), and BTTS at 1.80 (model 60). Combined odds 3.98; combined model probability 31 percent against an implied 25.1 — a slip worth having. £10 returns £39.80 when all three land. The realistic footnote: at 31 percent this treble loses two weeks in three by design, which is what level stakes are for.
Why three legs is often the sweet spot
Trebles sit at the friendliest point on the accumulator curve: enough multiplication to make short-priced value interesting, few enough legs that the compound margin stays survivable and winning weeks actually happen.
