Anytime Goalscorer Meaning
Anytime goalscorer means backing a named player to score at any point during normal time. One goal is enough, whenever it arrives; the match result is irrelevant.
How it settles
Ninety minutes plus stoppage; extra time excluded unless stated. Two rules catch newcomers. Own goals do not count for the scorer — deflect one into your own net and the market ignores it entirely. And a player who never takes the field is void at most operators (stake returned), while one who plays a single minute stands as a normal runner. Penalties count; shoot-out goals do not.
The maths
Price a scorer properly and you start with the team, not the player. A striker converts a share of his side's goals, so the fixture's expected goals sets his ceiling: the same forward is a materially better bet when his team's expectancy is 2.2 than when it is 1.1, often at an unchanged advertised price — which is precisely the inefficiency. From there, three multipliers matter: minutes (a sixty-minute player loses a third of his chances), share of team scoring, and penalty duty, which quietly adds several percentage points that lazy prices ignore.
A rough conversion for the mental arithmetic: a player scoring in 40 percent of his starts is fairly priced at 2.50; at 45 percent, 2.22. Famous names routinely trade shorter than their rates justify — celebrity is priced in this market more than any other — while penalty-taking midfielders at unfashionable clubs sit the other side of fair.
A worked example
A home side with a 2.1 goal expectancy against a leaky defence; their striker plays full matches, takes penalties, and scores in 43 percent of starts. Fair odds around 2.15 — the bookmaker offers 2.50, implying 40 percent. £10 returns £25 when he taps in a second-half rebound; the same bet voids if a knock keeps him out of the squad, and loses if he plays sixty scoreless minutes before the sub. Late team news moves this market more than any other, which argues for betting close to kick-off or not at all.
