Draw predictions: the outcome nobody wants to back

Nobody supports the draw. That single psychological fact shapes the entire market. Casual money flows to teams, because people bet on who they think will win, and the draw sits unloved at prices between 3.00 and 3.80 in most fixtures. The result is one of football betting's most persistent quirks: draws are mispriced more often, and more generously, than either team outcome.

The catch is that draws resist prediction almost by design. No team plays for one from kick-off, and the outcome usually emerges from balance rather than intent. So the model does not look for teams that "like" draws, a pattern that barely exists year to year. It looks for fixtures where the scoreline distribution bunches around level outcomes: two sides of similar strength, both with modest goal expectancies, in leagues where scoring runs low. A match expecting 2.1 goals between evenly rated teams generates far more 1-1s and 0-0s than a match expecting 3.2, however equal the sides.

Around thirty percent of matches in the divisions we track end level in a typical season, with meaningful variation by league. At odds of 3.40, a bet needs to land 29.4% of the time to break even, which is why the draw can be backed profitably at all: the base rate and the price live close enough together that a model separating 26% fixtures from 34% fixtures has a real edge to work with. That separation is exactly what our threshold enforces, and it is why some weeks this page shows nothing. Draws worth backing are a minority of draws that happen.

Expect long streaks in both directions. A 33% bet loses two in three by design, and runs of six or seven misses are unremarkable. The settled draw record, published with the odds at publication, is the number to judge, and level stakes are the only sane way to follow a market like this.

Draw picks pair naturally with under 2.5 goals, which shares much of the same reasoning, and the 1X2 page shows where the model prefers a side instead. The glossary's double chance entry covers the markets that fold the draw into a two-way bet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are draw tips?

They are selections for this market produced by a statistical model rather than a tipster. The model estimates a probability for every fixture it prices, and a selection appears here when that probability clears the market threshold. The market itself is explained in plain English in our glossary.

How are these tips generated?

A model rates every team from recent results, converts those ratings into goal expectancies for each fixture, and turns the expectancies into probabilities for this market. Selections are archived at kickoff and never edited afterwards.

How has this market performed?

The verified record for this market builds from launch. Every settled selection will be published in the results archive, including the losing runs.
